Go to the youtube video at the top of the page (or use the link below) and take notes using the handout with the prologue that you will find on the table. The video will define words for you. You should write down the meanings of the words next to the word on the handout. This will help you understand the meaning of the prologue as a whole. The video is about 9 minutes in length.

Station 2
You will find a handout on the table. Each person should take one handout and one piece of construction paper. Glue the whole Shakespearean version onto the construction paper on the left column. Then, cut the modernized version on the lines. Match each piece of modernized dialogue with the part of Shakespeare's prologue that it matches. Look at the meanings carefully. When you have matched all pieces, glue the modernized version next to the Shakespearean version that it matches. Be sure to put your name on your work. Matching these pieces to the modern language that we use will help you understand the meaning of the prologue.
Station 3
This station is a teacher led station. We will be looking at the prologue to Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet to understand iambic pentameter and rhyme scheme. We will discuss the definition of a sonnet and how this prologue is an example of a Shakespearean sonnet. This information will give you a true appreciation for Shakespeare's work. Could you write in iambic pentameter? You'll have a chance to try tomorrow!
